June 4, By Love Engineer Editor 27 Comments Shares There is all types of engineers out there and each of them can vary in personalities. But like all men they are simple. But like with any man they have their needs as do women. When dating an engineer you have to remember they think analytical and practical.

Logical thinking will always prevail over the romantic gestures. This type of thinking is excellent for a life partner if you are seeking marriage or a long term relationship that is stable. In my book I rather pick stable and practical person, such as an engineer to have a relationship with then a romantic that is unreliable, commitment phoebe who is in and out of your life.

This does not mean engineers are not romantic, however more so by the book romantic such as going to look at sunsets, giving red roses or taking you on a trip to napa valley for the weekend. Some might think this is vanilla and if they need more of a tear jerking emotionally gut retrenching romance with harps and cherubs there are artists or bad boys who would suit your needs. When deciding engineers are your thing be warned their personalities vary depending on what segment their profession is in.

I have noticed different engineering professions cultivate different personalities. For instance in my experience mechanical engineers, civil engineers and chemical engineers are often more outgoing then programmers or electrical engineers. Some engineering wardrobes are full of free shirts, jackets and hats with company logos of companies they have worked or vendors gave them as a gift.

At the same time there are similarities.

Advice for dating someone with Asperger’s

I’ve addressed this post to readers who have Asperger’s themselves, but these tips can just as easily be used to help a loved one who has Asperger’s. The most important rule I’ve discovered is this: Learn social skills by understanding the reasons behind social situations, not through rote memorization. The Problem With Rote Memorization The most natural way that people with Asperger’s learn social skills is through rote memorization. We learn a specific response that works for a specific situation, and so when that situation occurs, we deploy that response.

For instance, we learn through trial and error that if someone tells us their name, we should tell them our name in return or they will be upset.

Advice for dating someone with Asperger’s Astra Mill “There’s a few other things bothering me though, like he’ll say things and not realise how it could come across, and I’m not sure if its part of his condition or not, and I don’t want to be angry or upset about it, if he simply doesn’t realise, and its part of this. Or if he’s just being a typical insensitive male haha. Sometimes he will say stuff back to me and even I think it sounds really offensive but I really dont mean to be.

For example I will say the reason why they shouldn’t of done something out of respect but this can sound really offensive like I didnt appreciate what they did. I think this is because I say it in the wrong tone of voice and it comes across direspectfully. You should just ignore what he says if you think its offensive or he’s being rude or disrespectful. You should also take the topic of sex slowly unless you know he actually wants to talk about it or have sexual interactions.

I remember a girl my freind arranged a date with for me and all she talked about was sex and she even put her arm around me after I bought her dinner and she was touching me etc for the rest of the day and most people with aspergers dont really like people touching them unless they want you too. I think she must of thought that I would of been easy to loose her virginity too as I come across as a shy and typical geeky virgin.

On the day I did let her go way past with what I was comfortable with without saying anything. She even tryed to touch my penis at one point Even though she thought I liked her because I was so nice to her, That was actually the last time she saw me as I really hated my time with her and really couldn’t stand her.

We were lying on a bed in a University dorm, a girl and boy who at nineteen were taking our first tentative steps into the world of relationships. I could have pursued it, could have explained how difficult school had been: In the years between twelve and nineteen, I had taught myself a lot — forcing myself to go out and read faces as you would a foreign script, learning to figure out certain movements and postures.

But it did not come naturally to me, as it does for most people. I felt a bit like a fraud, but it was also exciting to move among my peers and feel, for the first time, fully accepted as one of them. Sometimes I feared the mask would slip, that I would be discovered, but I seldom was — although sometimes in conversation, someone would develop a puzzled look on their face. When I was thirteen, I pissed in a crisp packet and then held it out to some girls who bullied me at school break time, waiting for them to put their hands in to try to get my crisps.

I was both hurt by his disbelief, and strangely thrilled. Here he held out a chance to rewrite my past, to eradicate all the fucking awful weird things I had done, and to become something else — a quirky awkward girl who was adorable.
